*raises hand*
Now, how many of you have replaced a throttle position actuator?
*raises both hands, Bank 1 at 25k and bank 2 at 36k*
Do I just have bad luck or is it as it seems that everyone that has had an E9X M3 has had to replace a TPA at some point.

Had one, replaced 1 throttle actuator at 55k miles. I’ve said it before but I think Davesaddiction is the only e9x owner that I know that has not had that issue.

Can I still raise my hand of I wish I had one?

You may want an E9X, but you don’t want to have to pay to replace a TPA.

I think you have said that before, his must be operated by magic.

I haven’t had mine replaced yet, but it likes to idle rough sometimes and I had it serviced once. I am about to hit 50,000 miles on my 2011 E92.

Keyword: yet. Well hopefully you get off easy and don’t have to replace one.

My car “luck” usually involves me breaking the dumbest shit...my 2001 Audi S4 (I loved that fucking car) had a dime sized hole rubbed into a manifold pipe by the air intake. When I fixed that $3000 piece, the increased air flow caused a catalytic converter to explode. That was cheap....then my battery slowly...and I mean SLOWLY started dying.

I have a non-M E9X. (It is an M-sport though but lets not focus on that). It’s not my DD but I drive the absolute hell out of it and never have to replace anything! Quite reliable actually.

Hand raised.
But no issues yet. Mine’s an old baby. 2009 w/ 27000. But that’s what
(fighting with your)
extended warranty
(provider)
is for.

I was about to highjack one of your other discussions with hey! slick top! me too! but then I saw this post. According to the internet, only 180 slick top 6MT E90s were imported in 2011, so pretty rare.
I recently did my throttle actuators after trying to fix them with a new gear set, which only bought me a few months and it started throwing codes again. I replaced them with S85 units, the only difference being the output arms (easy swap) and the price - about half!

Which thread? Also, I’ve got a sunroof, if it were up to me I would have spent the money on the stereo and not the sunroof. A LCI 6MT M3 is pretty rare as it is, they only imported 1055.
I didn’t realize you could make the S85 units work, might have to look into that if it happens again. How many miles did yours last?

The thread with, the obvious, um ... sunroof. I don’t know how I missed that.
My TAs started to act up in the late 60's and quit in earnest in the mid 70's.

You can kinda see the sunroof in this pic.
I think I’ve had terrible luck with my TPAs, one at 24k the other at 36k. Another guy here has almost 100k on his original TPAs.

TAs failing at such low mileage (or at all, for that matter) is ridiculous. BMW should have warrantied those for you.

I didn’t even think to call BMW and bitch, I should have. It happened in 2015, like 2 months after the factory warranty expired too. That kinda pisses me off, but overall I love the car.
